The devastating earthquake that struck Haiti earlier this month has impacted countless lives in the small island nation. The BBC reports as many as 200,000 people will lose a limb as a result of the disaster.
The Center for Prosthetics Orthotics, a locally owned clinic, is proud to organize a benefit held at Waid’s Haitian Cuisine and Lounge, http://waidshouse.com, which is across the street from our facility. Waid’s will serve delicious authentic caribbean food and drinks topped with Haitian music throughout the night. We will be collecting donations of gently-used prosthetic devices at and after this event throughout the month of March. We are asking for prosthetic limbs only, and after the event they can also be accepted at one of our 3 CPO facilities located in Seattle, Bellevue and Kirkland.
There will be a donation request at Waid’s door. All proceeds will benefit Limbs for Life, a non-profit organization that provides prosthetic limbs for amputees unable to afford them. The foundation also provides donated prosthetic limbs for clinics in developing countries such as the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Turkey and Peru.
By engaging in the relief effort, you’re having a direct impact on someone’s life. Every dollar affects a disaster victim in a positive way and will literally be used to put someone back on their feet.
We have the desire. We have the manpower. What we need are the components. Who we need is you!
Thank you!
