The Hip Flexion Assist Device (HFAD) is intended for individuals with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) or stroke who are experiencing hip flexor weakness. The Hip Flexion Assist Device is designed to improve gait and consists of a comfortable waist band and two dynamic tension bands that attach to the shoe. It can be worn under or over pants and attaches directly to the shoe. No special footwear is required.
Hip flexor, knee flexor or ankle dorsiflexor weakness
Fatigue while walking resulting in limited endurance
Using an AFO for foot drop but are still struggling to advance the leg forward due to hip weakness
Compensatory movements to advance limb foward such as: hip hiking, vaulting and/or circumduction
